31 Flavors of Goodness
Last night Hilly took a JetBlue flight back to Raleigh-Durham to start a summer internship at Duke. Our house is a little less lively now, and marginally quieter--though Hilly is neither loud nor demanding. This morning, Stephanie and I woke to the simplicity of each other. With no immediate commitments we could sleep late (7:30 or 8!) and then hike the UCI preserve to the rocks overlooking the tollway. Now we are at Peet's, well stocked with reading materials, copious amounts of strong coffee, and two carbo-crammed scones. Life is good--and life was good. Maybe it's all good. No, that's overstatement. But goodness is found in multiple forms and flavors, a fact that Baskin-Robbins placed at the center of its business model. Ice cream is more interesting when we have choices beyond chocolate and vanilla. Life transitions also offer goodness in spectral variety. Try a sample.
