I Made A Few Mistakes
Early today, while ambling along, I began thinking about some mistakes I had made yesterday. On several occasions in interacting with other people I had chosen the wrong words or spoken in the wrong tone. I had also erred in simple actions, such as not thinking through who should be copied on an e-mail and who should not. These are bits of carelessness or callousness that any of us might perpetrate without awareness. Perhaps because we all err in ways that may escape our own notice and later correction, it's doubly important to control the larger patterns of actions and thought that reflect our deepest values. If our lives are structured to build these foundations--dedication to family and friends, our professions, spirituality, health, and so on--then these littler errors might be outweighed by larger and more consistent expressions of good. I hope so.
