Is Twice a Pattern?

I "ran" to the Chancellor's house again this morning. Actually, I ran just marginally farther--to the middle of property. My total running time was 13:45. The whole enterprise felt mildly embarrassing today as it did yesterday, yet I have to say that somehow today was better. It seemed a little easier to get up at 6:30 am, put on running gear, and step out the door; I doubt that any physical conditioning from yesterday could have taken effect by this morning. Still, even a psychological boost helps. Doing something twice can change our thinking from "I did that" to "I do that"--a pattern has been identified and seems more likely to extend to tomorrow and into the future. Going from once to twice feeds into identity, not just isolated experience. Twice may be a key to changing how we think and therefore who we are.
