540 Miles
We've done the straight shot from Tahoe to Irvine, or the reverse, a couple of times. It makes for a long day. This is not too impressive, though, compared to the feats of our friends Wayne and Karen Brown. They give presentations on marine biology—sharks, manatees, and coral reefs—at schools and libraries all over the country. A nonstop drive from Irvine to Chicago, or from Oklahoma City back home, is no biggie. Okay, we are wimps. We rolled into the driveway at around 10 pm and unpacked. Now all the food is put away, the washing machine is going, and the newspapers are cleared from our front porch. Though this vacation was outstanding, I have to say it's good to be home. Isn't that a great pairing? Good to go away; good to be back. Wishing all a wonderful week—maybe with a pleasant surprise thrown in. Watch for it.
